Description
Letrozole, commonly known by the brand name Femara, is a potent oral aromatase inhibitor (AI). It works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, dramatically reducing the body’s production of estrogen. Medically, it is primarily used to treat certain hormone receptor-positive breast cancers in postmenopausal women.
In bodybuilding and AAS contexts, letrozole is sometimes used to manage elevated estrogen levels associated with aromatizing steroids. Because it is one of the strongest aromatase inhibitors available, it is generally associated with a greater risk of suppressing estrogen excessively compared with milder AIs.
